Purpose

National Chi Nan University (NCNU) has been actively establishing partnership with local communities in Puli township. Thus, the Shui Sha Lian Research Center for Humanities Innovation and Social Practice (SSLRC) was established on May 29th, 2013 in order to integrate institute across various disciplinary, connect with local communities, and confront public affairs of the Shui Sha Lian area with action research.
Purpose

Goals

  • Set up the “SSLRC Action Research Program integrated Platform”
  • Organize a team on recognizing problems and figuring out solutions.
  • Sketch out a research program to raise public-affairs-concerned personnel.
  • Hold lectures, public forums, and workshops concerning Shui Sha Lian area so as to gather consensus on certain subjects.
  • Engage in systematic research approach on local affairs and release results in both paper and digital format for further enhancing the database of the study of Shui Sha Lian.

Purpose

Innovation & Practice

  • The Study of Shui Sha Lian Research Program: With the assist of professors and local NPOs, together, we can sketch out a long-term action research program to gain knowledge both in class and field.
  • Shui Sha Lian Action Research: Cored by action research approach, we encourage students to actively take part in elaborating public affairs and sharing research results concerning Shui Sha Lian area.
  • Puli Research Forum: Regularly connect with local communities like local authorities, private sectors, NPOs, and citizens; to establish a forum for public issues in this area; to intertwine NCNU with local communities; to enlarge the opportunity for social practice.
  • Community Governance Capacity Survey: Analyze the strength and weakness of every neighborhood within Puli township, distribute individual cooperative tactics to each of them and transform this town into a livable place.
  • Shui Sha Lien Citizen’s Cognition on Public Affairs: Acknowledge citizen’s attitude and opinion toward Shui Sha Lian’s public affairs.
  • SSLRC Newsletter: Post and share periodic results for each research programs and innovative projects.
